Surviving Mercury Retrograde
I will share the do's and don'ts of Mercury Retrograde and how to turn this time of confusion into manifesting something magical...
Mercury in the realm of Astrology governs our brains, it's not the brain itself but manages it. Think of Mercury like the software to our human vehicle... and just as all technology and software's need upgrades and updates for the system to function optimally, so does our human vehicle.
When Mercury goes Retrograde we essentially flip to our less dominant side of the brain. In essence, we are not performing at our usual pace as we enter a time of upgrades, updates and clearing of mental space. It's as if we internalise the function of Mercury, and we relive old memories, thoughts, things to do with the past, thoughts and situations come back up for reflection and analysing.
In many ways, it acts like a software glitch, Control, Atl and delete, or a bit like when you run out of space, and you have to go through files and data to see what you want to keep and let go of what you're ready to release.
WHAT NOT TO DO...
MAKE FUTURE PLANS
It's NOT the time to make future plans, because they will fall through or you most likely have a change of heart after the retrograde period.
TRIGGER HAPPY
It would also be wise to double check your messages before pressing send; I cannot count the number of times people have sent me messages that were intended for someone else over the years
SIGNING ON THE DOTTED LINE
Also, contracts are usually a big no-no, unless of course, it is a renegotiation of terms, and you have been working on it for some time before the retrograde. The reason I bring this up is that you miss the small print or do not read the terms of the contract and it usually becomes a point of regret because later you find a better deal.
TRAVELLING
Travelling can also be a little iffy unless travelling back to a place, but still expect delays, lost luggage, mixed communications, miss reading directions or even being told the wrong address or directions from point to A-B.
COMMITTING
It's NOT THE TIME FOR going on that first date, making any serious commitments of any kind, being reckless, making big purchases, finding faults in everything, gossiping or saying things without thinking first (the things you say will have more impact than they would initially) and it's certainly not the most excellent time to move.
DO THIS INSTEAD
SPRING CLEAN
It's a great time to clear things out, have a spring clean get around to the things you have been putting off because you had no time to do it.
IMPROVEMENTS
A perfect time to re-organise, rework and improve old projects that you have been working on; Let's say you're a blogger, it would be great to go back through old blog posts and improve them.
SHOP AROUND
If you're in the market to purchase something, look around, and you might catch yourself a bargain. I must add that it's not the time for impulse purchases, but usually, things break during a retrograde, so we often need to make new purchases so be sure to shop around first.
MEND FENCES
Speaking of breakages, this is the perfect time to mend fences, reconnect with people you haven't seen in a while. If something been broken for a while, it's the time to fix or make repairs.
UPGRADE + UPDATE
Mercury Retrograde is for improving the existing, like updating your social media profiles, sprucing up your dating profile, developing your CV, taking your car in for checks, renegotiating terms of old contracts and getting around to the things you have not had the time for up until this point.
REFLECT
It's the time to double-check everything, reassessing the old and see if there are ways to improve. It's time to find gratitude, be a little nostalgic and celebrate what is working and not what isn't and what you cannot control.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING MERCURY RETROGRADE

DELAYS.
Emails, Meetings, Traffic, Travel, Deliveries, Plans etc.
LOSING THINGS.
You can lose your items, keys, phone, car, money, jewelry, yourself, It's time things seem to go missing, and you misplace things and your time.
MISUNDERSTANDINGS
people (including you) hear what they want to hear and not always what was intended, arguments, hurt feelings, crossed wires, dates/times/places get muddled up, messages can get sent to the wrong people, and people can overreact.
REVERSALS
Anything new that is initiated during this time takes ten steps back after it. It's best to focus on the past or the present during this time because anything new that comes will get returned or taken back after it.
LACK OF FOCUS
Accidents are more likely during this time, hence why there can be more traffic, one because people are always running late and two because they are not paying attention with their minds elsewhere.
BROKEN PROMISES
commitments, plans, or promises can get broken during this time - just a heads up.
